Freepik Contributor Earnings and Login (Now Magnific)

Disclosure

This guide contains affiliate links (marked ad) and mentions a tool we built (marked (ad, own product)). We earn a commission on purchases through affiliate links, at no extra cost to you. Freepik is a third-party product we promote as an affiliate; we do not own or operate it. AutoKeyWorder is our own product.

Freepik pays $0.04 to $0.07 per download. That’s not a typo. At 5 cents per download, you need 500 downloads just to reach the $25 minimum payout.

I’m not saying that to scare you off. Freepik is one of the highest-traffic stock platforms on the web, which means your content gets serious exposure. But the economics work differently than Adobe Stock or Shutterstock, and most “Freepik contributor guides” skip the math entirely. This one won’t.

Here’s everything you actually need to know: what gets accepted, how to tag your content so it gets found, what the AI content policy looks like in 2026, and whether Freepik deserves a slot in your multi-platform upload strategy.

Freepik Contributor Login, Sign-Up and Dashboard (Now Magnific)

Freepik Contributor is now Magnific Contributor. contributor.freepik.com redirects to contributor.magnific.com, and the login and sign-up buttons there lead to magnific.com. I checked the live site on 7 October 2026. These are the official links, not affiliate links:

If you already had a Freepik contributor account, nothing needs redoing. Magnific’s help article Freepik Contributor is now Magnific Contributor says your existing agreement, signed affidavit, model releases, tax residency certificate and Payoneer link all stay valid. The upload rules did not change, the referral program stays the same, and the mobile app was renamed Magnific (read 7 October 2026).

My Own Freepik Numbers (90-Day Snapshot)

Before the theory, here’s what my own contributor dashboard looked like over a recent 90-day window, so you don’t have to take a round “5 cents” on faith:

MetricMy account (90 days)
Published assets612 (mostly vectors + AI illustrations)
Total downloads1,847
Average revenue per download$0.051
Gross earnings (accrued)$94.18
After 24% Spanish withholding~$71.58
Best single asseta flat “remote work” vector, 41 downloads

So the $0.04 to $0.07 range you’ll see everywhere? My real number landed at $0.051, right in the middle. The same 612 files on Adobe Stock earned me roughly 6x more over the same period despite fewer downloads, which tells you everything about where Freepik fits. More on that math below.

What Is the Freepik Contributor Program?

Magnific Contributor, called Freepik Contributor until recently, is a stock content marketplace that accepts vectors, photos, PSD templates, illustrations, and AI-generated content from independent contributors. The program is non-exclusive: by distributing through Magnific you grant a non-exclusive license and keep your rights, so you can upload the same files to Adobe Stock, Shutterstock, and other platforms. Magnific’s content distribution FAQ says contributors get 50% of net revenue regardless of the income source, with no extra deductions. The per-download payout is low because of how the formula splits a subscriber’s fee, which I explain below. Magnific’s own contributor page claims contributor resources get over 100M downloads a day, which is its marketing figure and not something I could check.

Magnific marks every contributor file Premium. Its help center says only paying subscribers (Premium, Premium+ or Pro) can download your work, and you cannot publish it as free content.

Accepted content types:

  • Vectors (EPS format + JPG preview)
  • Photos (JPG)
  • PSD files (layered Photoshop + JPG preview)
  • AI-generated content (accepted if you tag it)

The help center also lists video rejection reasons, but this guide covers photos, vectors and PSD files.

How Much Does Freepik Pay Per Download?

This is the section most guides skip. Magnific uses a Pay Per Download (PPD) model based on subscription revenue sharing. For each subscriber and each monthly invoicing period, Magnific takes the net revenue from that subscriber, divides it by the subscriber’s total weighted downloads, and applies a 50% revenue share. Weighting means a photo, vector or PSD download counts 3, an icon counts 1 and a video counts 12 (Magnific’s pay per download page, read 7 October 2026).

50% × (net revenue from subscriber ÷ weighted downloads by that subscriber), for each download of your files

In practice, the per-download rate moves with how many files each subscriber downloads: a subscriber who downloads hundreds of files spreads one fee across all of them. That is my reading of the formula, not a Magnific statement. Contributor reviews on Quora, Medium, and the detailed analysis at backyardsilver.com report $0.04 to $0.07 per download as of 2024-2026, and my own account landed at $0.051 (table above).

Here’s what that looks like at scale:

DownloadsEarnings (at $0.05/DL)Payout?
100$5.00No (below the $25 minimum)
500$25.00Yes (reaches the $25 minimum)
1,000$50.00Yes
2,000$100.00Comfortable monthly target
10,000$500.00Rare without 5,000+ assets

The payment timeline nobody mentions

Magnific pays two months behind. Downloads from January generate an invoice on March 4th, which you must validate yourself in your contributor panel between March 4th and 9th, and Magnific pays it between March 10th and 15th. If you miss the validation window, Magnific cancels the invoice and rolls the amount into the next month. You also cannot validate anything until your billing information and ID document are uploaded. The first payment comes within two months of reaching the minimum. If you upload today and start getting downloads tomorrow, you won’t see money for two months. Source: payment information and invoice validation, read 7 October 2026.

The minimum earnings to generate an invoice is 25 USD or 50 EUR. Payment methods are PayPal and Payoneer, plus bank transfer in SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) countries (payment methods). You can choose USD or EUR once a year in the Tax Center, though contributors in the EU and a few other European countries cannot pick USD.

The tax withholding trap

Here’s something that catches non-Spanish contributors off guard: Magnific AI is a Spanish company, based in Málaga, and must withhold tax on payments to contributors who live outside Spain. Its tax withholding page says you may be withheld up to 24% of your earnings. The rate can be lower or zero if your country has a double tax treaty with Spain and you upload a valid tax residence certificate. If your country is not on its treaty list, the rate is 24%. The certificate must come from your country’s tax authority, name the treaty with Spain, and be in English or Spanish (certificate rules). What a certificate costs depends on your country, so I won’t quote a price. If Freepik would be your only platform, losing up to 24% of already-small payouts makes the math rough, so it is worth sorting the paperwork out.

Refining 22 tags per asset is where the Freepik upload quietly eats your afternoon. AutoKeyWorder (ad, own product) is a Chrome extension that reads each image with AI vision and fills titles, keywords and categories directly inside the Freepik upload form, with no CSV export and no re-import. AutoKeyWorder runs at roughly 5 seconds per image and covers 7 platforms: Freepik, Adobe Stock, Shutterstock, Displate, TeePublic, Zedge and Redbubble. Install is free with 50 credits included, one credit per image, no credit card. Install the extension free

Freepik vs Adobe Stock vs Shutterstock: The Honest Comparison

Here’s how the three platforms actually compare from the contributor side:

FactorFreepikAdobe StockShutterstock
Commission model50% of subscriber net revenue, weighted (PPD)33% of license price15-40% by level, resets every Jan 1
Typical per-download$0.04-$0.07$0.33+ (minimum floor on the large plan)$0.10 floor
Minimum payout$25 / €50$25$35
AI content acceptedYes, with _ai_generated tagYes, with disclosureNo, contributors may not submit it
Review timeAt least 25 working days3-10 days typical1-7 days typical
TrafficClaims 100M+ downloads a dayLargeLarge
Who can downloadPaying subscribers onlyPaying customersPaying customers
Exclusivity requiredNoNoNo

The critical difference is the formula, not a free tier. Every contributor file is Premium, so only paying subscribers download your work, but each subscriber’s fee spreads across everything they download. Adobe Stock and Shutterstock pay a percentage of each license price. For the Adobe and Shutterstock side of this table, see my Adobe Stock vs Shutterstock for contributors comparison. Shutterstock does not accept contributor AI images, so AI files can only go to Adobe Stock and Freepik of the three.

My take: Freepik works as one channel in a 3-5 platform strategy. The traffic volume is real and hard to ignore, but per-download earnings are 5-8x lower than Adobe Stock. Upload the same content everywhere it is accepted and let each platform contribute what it can. If you already have images approved on Adobe Stock or Shutterstock, those same files qualify for Freepik. Non-exclusive terms mean you can upload your existing portfolio today.

If you’re building a multi-platform workflow, AutoKeyWorder handles the metadata across Adobe Stock, Shutterstock, and other platforms so you’re not manually filling the same keywords five times. Full disclosure: that’s our tool.

Already approved on Adobe Stock or Shutterstock? The same files qualify here, and the terms are non-exclusive. Signup is free. Plan for a first batch of exactly 150-200 assets and at least 25 working days of review.

How to Get Approved as a Freepik Contributor

Getting accepted isn’t instant. Here’s the process Magnific’s help center describes (applying to become a contributor and first upload, read 7 October 2026):

  1. Fill in the application form on Magnific Contributor (ad). Magnific reviews your portfolio and emails its decision. The admission test review usually takes up to 48 hours.

  2. If you are accepted, create a Magnific account if you don’t have one, read the contributor terms, complete your profile and add a link to your online portfolio.

  3. Upload your first batch: exactly 150 to 200 assets, all in the same format, through the web upload. The submit button stays disabled with 149 files or with more than 200. A human reviewer, not an algorithm, evaluates your work.

  4. Wait for review. Allow at least 25 working days (Monday to Friday) for your files to be reviewed. That is roughly 5 calendar weeks.

  5. If your batch does not pass, you can try again with another 150 to 200 files. If Magnific does not accept you as a contributor, you can apply again after a month. Magnific removes files you leave in the upload area for more than 180 days without sending them to review.

What gets you rejected: poor technical quality, poor composition, similar or duplicate files in the same batch, and bad metadata. The quality bar is real, especially for photography.

Upload Requirements by Content Type

The Freepik upload rules come from Magnific’s vector, photo and PSD guidelines, read 7 October 2026. For vectors and PSD files you upload the editable file and a JPG preview with the same file name.

Vectors

  • Format: EPS saved from Adobe Illustrator CS6, or at least Illustrator Creative Cloud 2017
  • File size: 0.5 MB to 80 MB
  • Color mode: RGB
  • Layers arranged properly, with layer names in English
  • Fonts must be free for commercial use. Text must stay editable unless the font’s shape is essential to the design, has an effect that stops it staying live text, or you made the font yourself.
  • Magnific allows Live Trace only when the result is clean and tidy.

Photos

  • Format: JPEG at the lowest compression
  • Embedded color profile: sRGB, Adobe RGB, ProPhoto RGB or P3
  • File size 1.5 MB to 250 MB, resolution 4 to 100 megapixels
  • Magnific rejects resized photos, chromatic noise, heavy sharpening and uncorrected chromatic aberration.
  • Title and tags go into the file’s metadata, in English, and each photo needs a unique title.
  • Model releases are required for identifiable people, and property releases for identifiable buildings and trademarks.

PSD Files

  • Photoshop Creative Cloud version, 1.5 MB to 250 MB, with the PSD between 1,000 and 5,000 pixels on a side (per the PSD guidelines)
  • JPG preview of 2,000 to 10,000 pixels, 4 to 100 megapixels
  • Each editable element sits in its own named group or folder
  • The preview must show a design or text in the area meant to be replaced, rather than a flat color

How to Upload AI-Generated Content on Freepik

Magnific accepts AI-generated photos, vectors, and PSD files. Its AI guidelines (read 7 October 2026) say every AI asset must be tagged, either with the AI button in the upload section or with the keyword _ai_generated in your CSV file, and Magnific may reject resources you don’t tag. You must tag EPS and PSD files that are fully AI-made or contain AI elements too. Putting “AI generated” in the title is optional. The help center also asks you to add the prompt (500 characters is plenty) and the model you used, and the CSV has two columns for them (prompt rules).

Here are the specific rules:

Same quality standards apply: AI artifacts like malformed hands, extra fingers, distorted teeth, flat or low-detail texture, or repeated patterns will get rejected. AI content is reviewed the same way as photography.

Don’t flood the platform with variations. Magnific says images that closely resemble others you submitted, in composition, framing, main elements or motifs, will not be accepted. Submit a focused set of distinct concepts, not 50 versions of the same prompt.

The 2024 warning: In late 2024, contributors on Medium and Reddit reported a wave of mass deactivations targeting AI-generated portfolios, with 200+ images deactivated under generic quality rejection emails and no per-image feedback. I have not seen Magnific confirm that, but quality over quantity is the smart approach.

A note on generating inside Magnific. Freepik’s own AI generator now trades under a different name: Magnific. Type freepik.com/pricing and you land on magnific.com/pricing. The contributor side you upload to is Magnific Contributor now too, so if the rename made you think the generator was discontinued, it wasn’t. Magnific’s contributor help says you can upload content generated with its AI suite if it follows the same guidelines and is tagged. You can still use the generator (ad): on the pricing page I read on 7 October 2026, Premium costs €12 a month billed annually (€16 monthly), excluding VAT.

There is one licensing catch the contributor help does not mention. Magnific’s AI Products Terms (June 2026, section 7) give a free account only a personal, non-commercial license for what it generates, and give subscribers ownership of the output “provided that their Subscription remains active at the time of generation of the Output.” So if you plan to upload and sell what you generate there, generate on a paid plan, not the free account. The full clause is in my Is Magnific AI free? article.

The appeal for a contributor is obvious: generate and upload inside one company, no API keys, no Python. Two honest caveats before you treat that as a shortcut. Magnific serves its own rendering of the underlying models, so output differs from hitting Seedream or Nano Banana Pro directly. And generating there buys you exactly zero leniency in review: the same rejection standards and the same $0.05 per download apply. It’s a convenience win, not an earnings win.

Step-by-step AI upload workflow:

  1. Generate your images (I know of no tool whitelist or blacklist in Magnific’s AI guidelines; if you use Magnific’s own generator (ad), do it on a paid plan)
  2. Quality check: inspect for hands, faces, text, and artifacts
  3. Export as JPG at maximum quality
  4. Upload to contributor dashboard
  5. Tag it as AI-generated immediately and add the prompt and model
  6. Add a title (35 to 100 characters) and about 20 relevant keywords
  7. Submit for review

Metadata that gets your content found

This is where most contributors leave money on the table. Freepik’s search works similarly to other stock platforms: buyers search, the algorithm matches against your metadata, and poorly tagged content is invisible.

Title Rules

  • Aim for 35 to 100 characters. Magnific rejects titles that are too short or too long.
  • Include your main keyword (what the buyer would search)
  • No file type (EPS, PSD, JPG), no numbers or dates (except festivities such as 4th July), no special characters, and English only
  • Descriptive, not clever: “Modern office workspace with laptop and plant” beats “WorkSpace Vibes 2026”

Tag Strategy

  • Magnific requires 5 to 50 keywords per asset, and says 20 relevant ones are enough
  • All keywords must be in English, separated by commas
  • No determiners, prepositions or pronouns, and never two words glued together
  • No repeated words, and don’t list every color in the picture
  • No obvious words: “photo” and “image” add nothing

What works: Think like a buyer searching. Include the subject, style, color, mood, orientation, and use case.

A Worked Tagging Example

Say you’re uploading a flat vector illustration of a modern home office with a laptop, plant, and coffee cup. Here’s how I’d tag it:

Title: “Modern home office workspace flat vector” (40 chars)

Tags (22 tags): home office, workspace, laptop, computer, desk, plant, coffee, cup, remote work, freelance, flat, vector, illustration, modern, minimalist, interior, work from home, digital, business, productivity, blue, horizontal

Notice: every tag describes something a buyer might search. No filler like “image” or “background,” and no prepositions. The style (flat, vector, minimalist) and the dominant color (blue) are included because designers often filter by those terms.

For more on keyword strategy across platforms, the stock photo keywords guide covers the fundamentals, and the Adobe Stock keywords guide and Shutterstock keywords guide have platform-specific details. If you’re also selling on Displate, the Displate metadata guide covers that platform’s tagging system.

What Actually Sells on Freepik

Looking at my own download report, the pattern is blunt: vectors and editable templates outsell standalone photos by a wide margin on this platform. Freepik’s audience is designers and marketers grabbing assets to remix, not art directors licensing a hero photo. They want something they can drop into a Canva-style layout and recolor.

What pulled downloads for me:

  • Flat vector illustrations for business, remote work, finance, and tech concepts (my single best asset was a “remote work” vector)
  • Seasonal and event templates: social media post templates, sale banners, holiday graphics. These spike hard around the event, then go quiet.
  • Icon sets and infographics, because designers download whole packs at once
  • Backgrounds and patterns that are generic enough to sit behind anyone’s text

What barely moved: my AI photos. They get downloads, but they’re competing against the millions of free AI images already on the site. The realistic-photography niche is where human shooters still beat the AI flood, so if you shoot real photos, that’s your edge.

Don’t chase “freepik trending keywords” lists you find floating around. They’re stale by the time they’re published. Look at your own download report monthly, double down on whatever category is actually earning, and let the dead categories go. That feedback loop beats any generic trend list.

Contributor levels explained

Magnific has three contributor levels that decide how you upload (contributor level upload, read 7 October 2026):

LevelWhat it takesAssets per uploadUpload method
Level 1Your first review150 to 200 for reviewWeb upload
Level 2First assets published1 to 200Web upload
Level 3500 published assets1 or more, maximum 200 a monthWeb or FTP

Level 3 has no limit on the number of batches, as long as you stay under the 200 assets a month cap. Magnific’s help center also says to allow up to 25 working days for each review at every level.

How to reach Level 3: Focus your first uploads on your strongest content. Once your first assets are approved you are a Level 2 contributor, and you need 500 published assets to reach Level 3. Until then you upload through the web, and the CSV import for titles and keywords (see how to create a CSV file) saves hours when you upload at scale across multiple platforms.

Common Rejection Reasons (and How to Avoid Them)

Freepik’s review team is strict, and understanding why content gets rejected saves you weeks of wasted upload cycles. Based on contributor reports and Magnific’s official guidelines, here are the most common rejection triggers:

Technical quality failures: Color fringing, sensor dust spots, overexposure, underexposure, visible noise, and soft focus. For vectors, bitmap images embedded inside the EPS file, non-editable text layers, or files that don’t open correctly in standard editors.

Similar/duplicate submissions: Uploading 30 versions of the same concept with minor color or angle variations is a fast path to rejection. Freepik wants each asset to stand on its own. This is especially common with AI-generated content where it’s easy to generate dozens of variations from one prompt.

Bad metadata: Irrelevant tags, titles in languages other than English, numbers or dates in titles, tags that describe what the image is not (“no people” as a keyword), repeated words, and file format references (EPS, PSD, JPG) in titles.

People photography specifics: Closed eyes, awkward expressions, visible skin blemishes, dirty fingernails, wrinkled clothing, lipstick on teeth, or makeup that’s too heavy. Model releases are required for any identifiable person.

Ethical and legal issues: Copyrighted characters, brand logos, recognizable private property without releases, and anything depicting violence or explicit content.

What My Multi-Platform Upload Workflow Looks Like

I upload the same content to Adobe Stock, Shutterstock, Freepik, and Displate. The process used to take forever because each platform has different metadata fields, keyword limits, and category systems. Now I use AutoKeyWorder to generate keywords from each image and fill platform-specific forms automatically. Full disclosure: that’s our tool, and I’m biased. But the time savings are real when you’re uploading to 4+ platforms per batch.

The point isn’t the tool, it’s the strategy. Non-exclusive terms across all these platforms mean every upload should go everywhere it is accepted, which excludes AI-generated files on Shutterstock. Freepik’s $0.05 per download looks weak in isolation, but when the same image also earns $0.33 on Adobe Stock (and at least $0.10 on Shutterstock, if it is not AI-generated), the total adds up.

Is Freepik a Scam? What Contributors Actually Say

Search “freepik contributor” on Reddit and you’ll hit a wall of frustration. It’s worth knowing what you’re walking into, because the complaints are mostly real, just not “scam” real.

Freepik is not a scam. It’s a legitimate, profitable company that pays out what it owes. The friction is structural, and it’s three things:

1. The pay is genuinely low. The loudest complaint, and the most accurate. At $0.05 a download, contributors who came expecting Adobe Stock money feel cheated. They’re not being cheated, the rate is published, but it stings.

2. The 2024 AI deactivation wave burned people. This is the complaint with the most heat. In late 2024 Freepik mass-deactivated AI portfolios, and contributors on Medium and Reddit reported 200+ images pulled with a generic quality-rejection email and zero per-image feedback. People who’d uploaded thousands of AI images watched chunks of their library vanish overnight with no appeal path. If you go all-in on AI volume, understand that risk is still on the table.

3. The 2-month delay plus up to 24% withholding feels like a bait-and-switch to anyone who didn’t read the fine print. You see earnings accrue, then watch up to a quarter of it disappear to Spanish tax and wait two months for the rest.

Here’s my honest read after running an account: the people who hate Freepik treated it as a primary income source and uploaded AI in bulk. The people who are fine with it treated it as one non-exclusive channel among several and didn’t bet the farm on AI variations. Same platform, completely different experience, driven entirely by expectations going in.

Is Freepik Contributor Worth It?

Freepik is worth joining as a supplemental channel in a multi-platform stock content strategy, but not as a primary income source. The platform claims over 100M downloads a day and offers non-exclusive terms, meaning contributors can upload identical content to Adobe Stock, Shutterstock, and other platforms simultaneously. However, the per-download rate of $0.04 to $0.07 is roughly 5 to 8 times lower than Adobe Stock’s minimum floor. Contributors who treat Freepik as one of three to five platforms in their workflow benefit from the volume without depending on the low per-download rate for primary income.

Worth it if:

  • You’re already uploading to 2+ other platforms and Freepik is just one more channel
  • You have 500+ assets that meet professional quality standards
  • You create vectors (less saturated than photos on Freepik)
  • You understand the math: supplemental income, not a livelihood

Not worth it if:

  • Freepik would be your only platform (the per-download rate is too low)
  • You have fewer than 150 assets (you can’t even get approved)
  • You’re expecting Adobe Stock-level payouts ($0.33+ vs $0.05)
  • You need fast payment cycles (the 2-month delay hurts cash flow)

The platform’s real value is reach. The traffic numbers are massive, and non-exclusive terms mean there’s no downside to listing your content there alongside Adobe Stock and Shutterstock. Just don’t build your entire stock content business around $0.05 downloads.

If that math works for you, applying is free. The real work is the first batch of 150 to 200 files. If you also want to generate the assets you upload, Magnific’s generator has a free tier worth testing before you pay, but the free tier’s output is licensed for personal use only, so don’t upload what it makes.

Both links are affiliate links (ad). They cost you nothing extra, and the $0.05-per-download math above doesn’t change because I earn a referral.

Frequently asked questions

Is Freepik Contributor now Magnific Contributor?

Yes. Freepik Contributor is now Magnific Contributor. contributor.freepik.com redirects to contributor.magnific.com. Your existing agreement, affidavit, model releases, tax residency certificate and Payoneer link stay valid, the upload rules did not change, and your public profile stays at magnific.com/author/yourusername (Magnific help center, read 7 October 2026).

How do I log in to my Freepik contributor account?

Use the Magnific contributor login at magnific.com/log-in?client_id=magnific_contributor. The old contributor.freepik.com address redirects to the new site, where the Login and Sign up buttons lead to the same magnific.com pages. If you have no account yet, apply through the sign-up link in the login section above.

What is the minimum payout for Freepik contributors?

You need to earn 25 USD or 50 EUR before an invoice is generated. You then validate the invoice yourself in your contributor panel between the 4th and 9th of the month, and Magnific pays between the 10th and 15th, about two months after the downloads. Payment methods are PayPal, Payoneer and, in SEPA countries, bank transfer.

How much does Freepik pay contributors per download?

Freepik pays approximately $0.04 to $0.07 per download based on a revenue-sharing formula: 50% of each subscriber’s net revenue, divided by that subscriber’s weighted downloads. The exact rate depends on how many files each subscriber downloads. This is significantly lower than Adobe Stock (~$0.33 minimum) or Shutterstock ($0.10 floor, rising with level).

Can you actually earn money from Freepik?

Yes, but the number is smaller than most guides imply. Over a 90-day window my own 612 published assets took 1,847 downloads at $0.051 average revenue per download, which is $94.18 gross and about $71.58 after 24% Spanish withholding. The same 612 files earned roughly 6x more on Adobe Stock over the same period, on fewer downloads. Freepik pays; it just pays per-download rates that only add up at portfolio scale.

How do you make money on Freepik as a contributor?

Volume and metadata, in that order. At $0.05 per download you need 500 downloads to clear the $25 PayPal payout minimum and about 2,000 for a comfortable $100 month; 10,000 downloads is rare without a 5,000+ asset library. That makes Freepik a volume play rather than a per-file earner, which is why it works best as a secondary platform running the same catalog you already upload to Adobe Stock.

Is Freepik good for selling your work?

It is good for distribution and secondary income, not primary income. The download volume is real and the approval bar is lower than Adobe’s, so files that stall elsewhere still earn here. But at roughly one-sixth of Adobe’s return on the same catalog, treat it as the platform you add after your primary one is running, never the one you start with.

Does Freepik accept AI-generated images?

Yes. Magnific accepts AI-generated photos, vectors, and PSD files. The mandatory requirement is tagging: use the AI button in the upload section or add _ai_generated in your CSV, and add your prompt and model. Same quality standards apply, and near-duplicate AI variations will be rejected. If you generate with Magnific’s own tool, do it on a paid plan, because free-account output is licensed for personal use only.

Can I upload to Freepik and Adobe Stock at the same time?

Yes. Freepik’s standard contributor program is non-exclusive. You can upload identical content to Freepik, Adobe Stock, Shutterstock, and any other platform simultaneously with no penalty or restriction. Most experienced contributors recommend uploading to 3-5 platforms.

How long does Freepik take to review submissions?

Magnific says to allow at least 25 working days (about 5 calendar weeks) for your files to be reviewed, while the admission test usually takes up to 48 hours. This is notably slower than Shutterstock (1-7 days) and Adobe Stock (3-10 days). Plan your upload schedule with this delay in mind.

Is Freepik contributor worth it in 2026?

It’s worth it as a supplemental channel, not a primary income source. On my own account, 1,847 downloads over 90 days earned about $94 gross at $0.051 per download, roughly 6x less than the same files made on Adobe Stock. The value is reach (Magnific claims 100M+ downloads a day) and non-exclusive terms, so listing content you’ve already created elsewhere has almost no downside. Just don’t expect a livelihood from $0.05 downloads.

Is Freepik a scam?

No. Freepik is a legitimate company that pays what it owes. The common complaints are real but structural: low per-download pay, a 2-month payment delay, up to 24% Spanish tax withholding, and a 2024 wave of AI-portfolio deactivations. Contributors who treat it as one channel among several tend to be fine; those who expected Adobe Stock payouts or bet everything on bulk AI uploads are the ones who feel burned.

What sells best on Freepik?

Vectors and editable templates outperform standalone photos, because Freepik’s audience is designers remixing assets, not art directors licensing hero images. Flat vector illustrations (business, tech, remote work), seasonal social-media templates, icon sets, infographics, and generic backgrounds move best. Realistic human-shot photography is the one niche where real photographers still beat the AI flood.
