Megapixels are width x height divided by one million. Platform minimums were checked on 28 Oct 2026 (Magnific on 7 Oct 2026). Platforms change them, so check the upload page before a big batch.
Resolution is the number of pixels in the image: width x height. A 6000 x 4000 photo has 24 million pixels, so 24 megapixels. That count decides how much detail the file holds and how big it can print.
The DPI number saved in a file does not change the resolution. It only says how many pixels go into one printed inch. To read it, use the DPI checker.
| Platform | Minimum | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Adobe Stock | 4 to 100 megapixels, JPEG up to 45 MB | Adobe contributor help |
| Shutterstock | At least 4 megapixels | Shutterstock help |
| Magnific (Freepik) photos | 4 to 100 megapixels, 1.5 to 250 MB | Our Magnific guide |
| Etsy listing photos | 2000 px or more on each side recommended, 635 px for the first photo | Etsy help |
| Displate | 2900 px on the short side, close to a 1.4:1 ratio | Displate preparation |
Shutterstock's own example: 2000 x 2400 pixels is 4.8 megapixels and passes, 1200 x 3000 is 3.6 megapixels and fails.
Once the file passes, the next step is the title and keywords. Our guides on Adobe Stock rejection reasons and how to sell digital art cover what comes after the upload.
