Magic Tags and AutoKeyWorder are both Chrome extensions that end up putting 13 tags into your Etsy listing, but they start from opposite ends. Magic Tags starts from a keyword you type and builds tags out of what Etsy’s live search returns for it. AutoKeyWorder starts from your product photo and writes the title, tags, description, category and materials from what it sees, checked against Etsy’s search suggestions. If you already know your keyword and want a volume number next to each tag, Magic Tags Pro at $7.99 a month. If you want the whole listing written from the photo and typed into the editor, AutoKeyWorder. Full disclosure, AutoKeyWorder is mine.
Disclosure: AutoKeyWorder is my own product (ad, own product). No affiliate link to Magic Tags. Prices and plan limits were read off magictagstool.com/pricing and its Gumroad page on 15 September 2026.
AutoKeyWorder vs Magic Tags: the quick verdict
| AutoKeyWorder | Magic Tags | |
|---|---|---|
| Starts from | Your listing photo | A seed keyword you type |
| Writes | Title, 13 tags, description, category, materials | 13 tags and a title |
| Where the text goes | Typed into the Etsy listing editor | Copy and paste on Free, one-click autofill on Pro |
| Search data | Etsy search suggestions for the product | Live Etsy search results; search volume estimates on Pro |
| Free tier | 50 credits (25 listings), then 5 a day on the web tool | Tags and titles for any Etsy search, manual copy and paste, capped searches |
| Paid | $3.99 for 100 credits, $6.99 a month for 900 | Pro $7.99 a month: unlimited searches, search volume, autofill, bulk |
| Marketplaces | Etsy, Adobe Stock, Shutterstock, Freepik, Redbubble, TeePublic, Zedge, Displate | Etsy today; an all-marketplaces tier at $15 a month is listed as coming soon |
Pick Magic Tags if your bottleneck is tags, you know the keyword, and you want a volume estimate beside each phrase. Pro is the plan that does that; Free is a taste.
Pick AutoKeyWorder if your bottleneck is the whole listing, or you also fill stock and print-on-demand forms.
Use both if you list often: let Magic Tags Pro show the volume for the seed phrase, then let AutoKeyWorder fill the listing and swap in the two or three tags Magic Tags proved.
What Magic Tags does well
Type “vintage leather bag” and Magic Tags reads live Etsy search results for it and returns 13 tags plus a title. The tags come from search results, so if Etsy returns listings for a phrase, buyers typed it. That is the thing I like most about it.
The Free plan gives you tags and titles for any Etsy search with manual copy and paste, and a cap on how many searches you run. Pro is $7.99 a month and unlocks unlimited searches, search volume estimates in a dashboard, one-click autofill into the listing editor, and bulk operations. A separate all-marketplaces tier for Etsy, Amazon and Redbubble is listed at $15 a month and marked coming soon; on 15 September 2026 the live product is Etsy.
Where Magic Tags falls down
It needs a keyword from you. If you do not know what to type, you get 13 tags for the wrong phrase. Beginners who type “mug” get mug tags, and “mug” is the phrase they will never rank for.
It does not write the description, category or materials, only tags and a title. The rest is you.
The useful half is Pro. On Free you copy 13 tags and paste them one by one, and you get no volume number, which is exactly the chore and the blind spot both tools exist to remove. Budget $7.99 a month if you want Magic Tags to do its job.
And the search volume numbers are the extension’s own estimate. Every third-party Etsy tool estimates; only Marketplace Insights is Etsy’s count. Treat the numbers as a ranking, not a total.
What AutoKeyWorder does well
You open a listing in the Etsy editor, upload the photo, click the icon. The extension reads the photo, asks Etsy’s search box what it completes for that kind of product, then types the title, all 13 tags, the description, the category and the materials into the form. Nothing is published until you press publish.
It costs 2 credits a listing. 50 free credits on signup is 25 listings. Then $3.99 for 100 credits, $9.99 for 1,000, packs never expire, or $6.99 a month for 900.
The same extension fills Adobe Stock, Shutterstock, Freepik, Redbubble, TeePublic, Zedge and Displate upload forms at 1 credit per image.
Where AutoKeyWorder falls down
It does not show search volume. Magic Tags Pro gives you a number next to each phrase; AutoKeyWorder gives you the phrase Etsy suggested and no number. If you want to compare two tag candidates on volume, you need Magic Tags Pro, eRank or Marketplace Insights.
It is not a flat subscription for unlimited use. 25 free listings, then credits. A seller who fills 600 listings a month pays more than $7.99.
One listing at a time, no bulk. And when Etsy changes its editor, there is a day or two before the fill works again.
Pricing side by side (as of 15 September 2026)
| Plan | Cost | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Magic Tags Free | $0 | Tags and a title per search, capped searches, copy and paste |
| Magic Tags Pro | $7.99 a month | Unlimited searches, search volume, one-click autofill, bulk |
| Magic Tags all marketplaces | $15 a month, coming soon | Etsy, Amazon, Redbubble |
| AutoKeyWorder free | $0 | 50 credits, 25 full listings |
| AutoKeyWorder $3.99 pack | $3.99 once | 50 full listings, never expires |
| AutoKeyWorder Starter | $6.99 a month | 450 full listings a month |
Magic Tags Pro and AutoKeyWorder Starter cost about the same. For that money one gives you tags with volume numbers, the other gives you the whole listing without them. Which one you are missing decides it.
What I actually do
For a new listing I do not start with a keyword. I start with the mockup, because the photo decides the listing. The extension fills the form, I read the title, and for the two or three phrases I care about I check Marketplace Insights. If Marketplace Insights shows a phrase with real searches that the extension did not use, I swap it into a tag slot by hand.
Run Magic Tags on the same listing and compare the two tag sets. Where they differ, Magic Tags will lean to the broader phrase with more volume and more competition, because that is what live search results reward. That is the right tag for an established shop with sales and the wrong one for a new listing with none. Neither tool knows whether your shop has sales yet, so pick with that in mind.
The verdict
Magic Tags Pro if you want tags with a volume number, know your keyword, and are fine writing the description yourself. Free is for trying it, not for running a shop.
AutoKeyWorder if you want the listing written from the photo and typed into the editor, or you upload to stock and print-on-demand sites too.
Both, if you list often enough that one better tag a week pays the $7.99. For the research side, our Etsy SEO tools comparison ranks the options.
